My Approach to Therapy:
My approach to individual, couples’, and family therapy emphasizes strengths and resilience, in the face of challenges, risks, and barriers. A clinical social worker with over 25 years of practice experience, my goal is to reflect the core values of my profession in every client interaction: dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, a client’s right to self-determination, integrity, and professional competence.
I recognize and respect the clients’ choice regarding goodness of fit with me as a therapist – my style, demeanor, and approaches to practice. I count it a privilege when selected to be a part of someone’s journey of exploration, healing, self-actualization, and all aspects of what therapy can entail. Practice techniques are varied, flexible and adaptable, considering who persons are in the fullness of their identities and current life experiences. These techniques are inclusive of: strengths perspective; cognitive-behavioral therapy; narrative therapy; solutions-focused approach; motivational interviewing; mindfulness techniques; and acceptance and commitment therapy. This list is not exhaustive and continually evolves with my own dedication to ongoing professional development.
