Navigating LGBTQ+ Topics in Therapy & Professional Spaces

  • The Village Works 202 Washington Street Brookline, MA, 02445 United States (map)

June is LGBTQ Pride Month

During this month's Social Justice Conversation, we will continue to address social justice issues in therapy by examining how topics like homophobia, transphobia, heterosexism, and gender norms enter the therapy room and other professional spaces. We will explore strategies that clinicians can use when a client makes "phobic" statements in session and we will explore ways that clinicians can increase their cultural competency skills in working with LGBTQ clients and their families. We will also take a look at how these topics show up in training programs, and we will share best practices for navigating these topics at the organizational level.
