SNOWED OUT: Navigating Sexism in Therapy & Other Professional Settings

  • The Village Works 202 Washington Street Brookline, MA, 02445 United States (map)

Looking for strategies to effectively address sexism, racism, xenophobia, heterosexism, and other "isms" in therapy?

Given today's socio-political climate, issues of racism, sexism, xenophobia and other "isms" have made their way into the therapy session. Whether working with clients who have experienced discrimination or with clients who express offensive comments in session, therapists must consider transference/counter-transference, treatment goals, and the therapeutic relationship when deciding how to approach these topics. During this conversation, you will hear from a panel of therapists who will use personal stories and case studies to share strategies for navigating potential pitfalls and using best practices to address topics of sexism, discrimination, racism, heterosexism, and other "isms" in therapy sessions.

This workshop is geared for mental health professionals and other professionals involved with diversity, equity, and inclusion fields.
